Blogging? Really? But isn’t blogging ‘so last decade, darling’?

Nope…more than ever you need to consider blogging to build your community.

But let’s start with the WHAT of blogging

A blog is a space on your website where you create regular content. ON YOUR WEBSITE, is key.

  • You own your website.

  • You control what goes onto your website.

  • You have more power to decide who sees your content.

BUT ‘I have a thriving social media following and create content for my community on different platforms’.

Yes, but consider this:

  • Social media platforms decide who sees your content. You don’t see every post from all your friends and even from Pages you have liked or groups you have joined.

  • Social media is transient - it can be gone in a second. I have friends who woke up to their profiles being deleted. No idea why. Some had 10s of 1,000s of followers and hadn’t changed how or what they shared. A close friend lost her Instagram profile of 12,000 followers and she was simply posting about the wedding dresses she sells.

  • Platforms can stop working. Recently Meta went down for 6 hours. Personally, I didn’t notice. But I know many were relying on the platform for live streaming, events, and running paid adverts.

  • My Page has been reported by someone who just doesn’t like me, and I lost access to my Page for about 2 weeks. It could also have been a random bot. And it may never have been restored.

  • A social media post drops down the feed in seconds with fewer people seeing or even finding your previous content.

I have also heard about Influencers, who make their income with every post they put on social media, who lost everything, in a second.

SOCIAL MEDIA MAKES YOUR VULNERABLE!

I see wonderfully long social media posts, which are wasted and lost. If all these posts went onto websites, they would be found on Google so much quicker and easier.

A blog is…

…an opportunity for you to create regular content for your website, where search engines, such as Google, can find it.

Google loves up-to-date content so you do need to blog at least every 90 days to ensure it stays on Google’s radar.

And you can build a community around your blog as you would on social media.

Free Blogging Workshop

I get asked so many questions about blogging:

  • What would I blog about?

  • How can I make my blog more visible on Google?

This workshop is for you if:

  1. You have been blogging for a long time and want to elevate it.

  2. You have never blogged and wonder if you should.

  3. You have blogged in the past but just don't have the time.

  4. You are skeptical about blogging and doubt it is anything that can truly make a difference to your business.

My workshops are always interactive and you will not only learn, but meet new people and explore how you can use the lessons in the workshop in your own business or community.

Top Blogging Tips

The first consideration when creating ANY content, including a BLOG, is to identify what you want to achieve from the blog post.

What is the blog's ‘call to action’?

  • Do you want your audience to write a comment on the post?

  • Or share it with their friends?

  • Are you asking your readers to click on a link to buy, sign up, or join something?

Remember: every piece of content you create needs a purpose and has to be for your audience. It’s not about you, your news, or what fun you are having. It is ALWAYS about your audience and what THEY need and want.
